Joanne Chen Sullivan, a skilled painter, and her husband Tom Sullivan, a skilled craftsman, opened her gallery in the heart of Escondido's historic art district in 2025.
Joanne Chen Sullivan is a Chinese brush painter, business owner, and mother who has been creating art for more than thirty years. Her work blends traditional technique with a modern sense of movement and emotion, and it has been recognized in galleries, exhibitions, and art shows across the country. Painting has always been her way of staying connected to her heritage, her creativity, and the world around her.
Joanne and her husband, Tom Sullivan, are also the founders of Totally Bamboo. Before that chapter began, they owned Hollywood Chairs in North Hollywood, supplying director’s chairs to film and television productions. While looking to improve the design of their chairs, they explored new materials and were drawn to bamboo for its strength, light weight, and sustainability. What began as a practical solution grew into a new creative venture. Today, their work with bamboo is known for craftsmanship, quality, and care for the environment.
Totally Bamboo is a thriving small business, keeping Tom and Joanne busy. Featured in the gallery are some out their exclusive in-store bamboo products. Check out their online store below.
